BIG Reader is designed to keep your documents private. Your scanned documents and reading history are stored only on your device. We do not run ads, we do not sell data, and we do not require an account.
If you choose to tap "Make It Simple", the text of that document is sent securely (over HTTPS) to our server, which forwards it to an AI service (DeepSeek) to produce a short, easy-to-read summary. This happens only when you explicitly request it.
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription status. This involves an anonymous, randomly generated identifier and purchase receipt information — never your name, email, or payment details, which stay with Apple. See the RevenueCat privacy policy for details.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing. The only data that leaves your device is described above: document text you explicitly send to the AI summary service, and anonymous purchase validation data.
Because your documents live only on your device, you are in control: delete a document in the app's Library, or delete the app, and the data is gone. Our server does not keep copies of your documents or summaries.
BIG Reader is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
